The Mercer University School of Engineering (MUSE) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor Position in Mechanical Engineering, starting August 2018. Candidates with expertise, scholarly interest, and an excellent capacity for teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in areas related to both thermal sciences and materials are of particular interest.

Mercer’s undergraduate engineering program is ABET/EAC accredited. The School of Engineering offers both Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering degrees with specializations in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, and mechanical as well as engineering related programs in technical communications and industrial management. The undergraduate curriculum is dynamic, innovative, broadly based, and includes the option of an integrated BSE/MSE degree program for qualified candidates. Total engineering enrollment is over 750 students.

Mercer University is a private and comprehensive university and includes the Mercer Engineering Research Center in nearby Warner Robins, GA. The metropolitan Macon area, located 90 miles south of Atlanta, has a population of 250,000 and enjoys a four-season climate and a wealth of nearby historic, cultural, and recreational attractions.


An earned Ph.D. from an accredited college/university in mechanical engineering or a closely related field is required. Those with industry experience and/or professional registration are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship focused on support of the institution’s educational mission. Mercer Engineering uses a core curriculum model, and we would also expect this faculty member to teach fundamental engineering courses such as thermodynamics, and related courses, among others. It is anticipated that laboratory-based experimental methods courses will be included in the teaching load of this position.
