Mercer University seeks an outstanding individual to become the next Dean of the University Library. The Dean contributes to the mission of Mercer University by providing effective strategic direction and vision. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2018.

The University Library is a vibrant library community dedicated to the academic success of Mercerians. The commitment to “One Mercer, One Library” ensures a consistent approach to serving all students and faculty across the University’s Macon and Atlanta campuses, Regional Academic Centers, and distance learning programs. Through a team approach, library colleagues collaborate, share best practices, and move the Library forward through innovation and leadership. The Library provides quality information resources by enhancing strong print collections with a vast array of electronic books, journals, streaming audio, video, and digitized archival collections, by sharing print collections across campuses, and by delivering e-resources to the Mercer community wherever they are. Research assistance reaches students through virtual and in-person instruction and consultation. The Library also serves as a popular campus gathering spot, not only for its effective services and assistance, but for the spaces and amenities it provides: individual and group study spaces, social areas, computers and print services, 24 hour study rooms, and a place to get a cup of coffee. Recent facility enhancements have added significant new study spaces, including more 24/7 areas. The Library looks to the future and its role as an innovative, integral partner in the success of Mercer University.

Mercer University is one of America’s oldest and most distinctive institutions of higher learning with more than 8,600 students enrolled in 12 schools and colleges on campuses in Macon, Atlanta, and Savannah; at medical school sites in Macon, Savannah, and Columbus; and at three Regional Academic Centers around the state.
