Responsibilities | The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy of Mercer University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty member who will teach in the broad areas of pharmaceutical sciences and conduct research in pharmaceutical sciences. This faculty position requires teaching our professional (Pharm.D.) and graduate (Ph.D.) students in a variety of areas of pharmaceutical sciences, including cardiovascular pharmacology. The College of Pharmacy is located on the Cecil B. Day Campus of Mercer University in northeast Atlanta, Georgia. The 335 wooded acres of the campus create a serene and secluded atmosphere in close proximity to downtown Atlanta. This location is ideal for fostering collaborative research with investigators at other institutions in Atlanta including Emory University School of Medicine, Georgia State University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences consists of sixteen faculty members who mentor approximately forty Ph.D. students in diverse areas of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences such as pharmacology, pharmaceutics, molecular biology, drug and vaccine delivery, and pharmacometrics. |
Qualifications | The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. from an accredited college/university in pharmaceutical or related sciences or a background in teaching and research in a school of pharmacy and should be familiar with pharmacy education. Preference will be given to candidates who have a Pharm.D./Ph.D. degree. The position may be filled at an Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and/or maintain a sustainable, extramurally-funded research program, participate in collaborative research and demonstrate a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by publications in high impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities at the Department, the College and University levels. Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
