Responsibilities

Dr. Linda Streit, Dean of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University is seeking candidates for the position of Coordinator for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the DNP program. The DNP Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs.

This is a tenure track eligible appointment. Faculty rank commensurate with experience. Position would begin on or after August 1, 2018.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Recruitment of qualified students and growth of the program;
2. Supervision of the DNP curriculum (including BSN-DNP);
3. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, the Graduate Program Committee, multiple other university and college committees to strategically plan and evaluate the curriculum;
4. Formulate effective relationships with clinical mentors to facilitate Scholarly Project placements;
5. Collaborate with the Graduate Program Committee to provide visionary leadership in development of new approaches to DNP education; and
6. Participate in the development of quality reports submitted to the College, to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, National League for Nursing, and other reports pertaining to the DNP program.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college/university, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia with advanced practice certification as nurse practitioner (or eligible for licensure and certification) and a record of scholarship commensurate with a minimum rank of Associate Professor. Additional qualifications include graduate teaching and curriculum experiences, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a demonstrated understanding of nursing accreditation standards.

The College of Nursing is located on the Atlanta, Georgia campus of Mercer University. Founded in 1902 as a school of nursing, the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is the oldest nursing program in Georgia. Over its 115-year history, the College has graduated more than 7800 nurses. Since its founding, the College remains dedicated to educating the person, fostering the passion, and shaping the future of nursing. The College merged with Mercer University in 2001 and offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing, a Doctor of Nursing Practice, and a Ph.D. in nursing. The College of Nursing is located on Mercer University’s Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta, GA and is one of four academic units within the Mercer Health Sciences Center. The campus is located within close proximity to multiple acute care hospitals, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other healthcare and academic institutions. The Atlanta area provides an ideal environment for cultural and intellectual stimulation.
