Dr. Linda Streit, Dean of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Dean for Graduate Programs. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the promotion of excellence in graduate nursing education.

The Associate Dean for Graduate Programs provides leadership in the management of the graduate programs to support overall advancement of the College, achieve goals within the strategic plan for the College and University, as well as support interprofessional activities associated with meeting the goals of the Mercer University Health Sciences Center.

The Associate Dean for Graduate Programs reports directly to the Dean for nursing.

This is a tenure track eligible appointment. Faculty rank commensurate with experience. Position would begin on or after July 1, 2018.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) Oversight of graduate curriculum;
2) Supervision of graduate curriculum planning and systematic evaluation;
3) Conduct continuous quality improvement strategies;
4) Collaborate with the Assessment and Evaluation Committee and the Graduate Programs Committee to strategically plan and evaluate the curriculum;
5) Formulate effective relationships with clinical agencies and mentors to facilitate graduate placement;
6) Maintain direct responsibility for the hiring, support, and evaluation of adjunct clinical faculty for graduate courses;
7) Evaluate employment rates and certification examination success for graduates from programs;
8) Forecast enrollment numbers to plan for clinical and graduate course needs;
9) Oversee and evaluate adherence to policies procedures for graduate students;
10) Oversee the quality, accuracy, and final product of program publications, such as the graduate admissions brochures, graduate Web pages, and Graduate Student Handbook, Adjunct Clinical Faculty Handbook, updates to the Mercer University Catalog, and GBCN Catalog;
11) Oversee the quality of reports submitted to the College to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and National League for Nursing, Southern Association of Colleges and School Commission on Colleges, and other reports pertaining to the graduate program; and
12) Directly supervise and support all faculty teaching in graduate coursework, graduate program coordinators, Endowed Chair(s), Visiting Professors, and the secretary to the graduate program.


Qualified applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college/university, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia (or eligible for licensure) and a record of scholarship commensurate with a minimum rank of Associate Professor. Additional qualifications include graduate teaching and curriculum experiences, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a demonstrated understanding of nursing accreditation standards.

The College of Nursing is located on the Atlanta, Georgia campus of Mercer University. Founded in 1902 as a school of nursing, the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is the oldest nursing program in Georgia. Over its 115-year history, the College has graduated more than 7800 nurses. Since its founding, the College remains dedicated to educating the person, fostering the passion, and shaping the future of nursing. The College merged with Mercer University in 2001 and offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing, a Doctor of Nursing Practice, and a Ph.D. in nursing. The College of Nursing is located on Mercer University’s Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta, GA and is one of four academic units within the Mercer Health Sciences Center. The campus is located within close proximity to multiple acute care hospitals, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other healthcare and academic institutions. The Atlanta area provides an ideal environment for cultural and intellectual stimulation.
