The Department of International and Global Studies at Mercer University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Global Health Studies.

Starting Date: August 1, 2018

Duties will consist of teaching seven undergraduate courses per year. Courses taught may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Global Health, Epidemiology, Research Design, and Senior Project. The successful candidate will take part in the evaluation and refinement of the undergraduate degree in Global Health Studies, and have the opportunity to develop new courses in his or her area of specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to help inspire and develop new study abroad and international service-learning experiences, to encourage undergraduate research, and to actively participate in college wide core programs such as the Integrative Studies series and/or Great Books.

A PhD in a social science focused on global health, or a DrPH in Global Health from an accredited college/university is required. Degree must be completed by the start date noted above. If Ph.D. is not awarded by the time of this appointment, then rank will be lowered to Instructor. We are looking for a colleague who is broadly trained in global health studies and is able to teach epidemiology, develop new global health courses, and support other existing programs in the department. Strong preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary training, a background in liberal arts education, and whose scholarship is focused on health issues in Latin America. Successful candidates must show promise of excellence in teaching, and evidence of scholarly activity.

Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
