Patient Care Duties:
o Develop and maintain faculty ambulatory pulmonary medicine practice
o Clinical Care of patients in department including participating with department call schedule
o Provide pulmonary and critical care consultations, inpatient and outpatient, for Mercer Medicine faculty patients and other patients as requested by community physicians.
o Perform pulmonary procedures for MCNH and Mercer Medicine patients
o Actively participate in Medical Staff and Hospital Committees.
o Complete all Medical Record documentation requirements as specified in the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations on a concurrent basis.
o Participate in EC and City call schedule as required.

Teaching Duties for Internal Medicine Residency & IM Clerkship:
o Supervise and instruct Internal Medicine residents, family medicine residents and 4th year students on critical care medicine service or pulmonary medicine
o Serve as faculty attending and cover ICU team consisting of IM residents, FP residents, and senior medical students, including daily teaching and work rounds
o Develop, implement, accomplish, & monitor goals for critical care and pulmonary education
o Review and update pulmonary curriculum as needed and at least every three years as required by the RRC-IM
o Collaborate with surgical critical care fellowship training
o Provide 6 to 8 core curriculum lectures per year in the areas of pulmonary medicine, critical care, and sleep medicine
o Attend pulmonary sub-specialty clinic 1 to 2 times per month
o Serve as attending or designate an attending for the residents’ pulmonary elective
o Provide pulmonary/critical care/sleep medicine consults for staff medicine patients
o Supervise resident and medical student procedures such as thoracentesis, arterial blood gas sampling, and central line placement
o Provide mentorship to IM residents interested in pulmonary/critical care fellowship training
o Tutor Pulmonary Phase for Mercer students
o Participate in student clerkship lecture series as designated by the clerkship director
o Assist with pulmonary clinical skills training for 1st and 2nd year Mercer medical students

Administrative Duties:
o Opportunities for research in clinical trials and outcomes research
o Serve on department, hospital, university committees as requested by chairman


o M.D. degree from an accredited college/university
o Board certified in Pulmonary Medicine/Critical Care
o Georgia medical license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Georgia
o Experience in ambulatory practice setting
o Additional training in sleep medicine desirable
o Experience with clinical trials or outcomes research desirable
o Experience in academic medicine environment highly desirable
