The College of Health Professions at Mercer University invites applications for a Coordinator of Clinical Education for the newly formed professional Master of Athletic Training program on the Macon, Georgia campus. The Athletic Training program joins established programs in the College of Health Professions including Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, Public Health, and Clinical Medical Psychology.

Under direction of the Dean of the College of Health Professions and the Program Director, the 12-month, full-time, tenure track faculty position is responsible for the development and leadership of the clinical education aspects of the Master of Athletic Training program in the areas of maintaining and recruiting new clinical sites and preceptors, preceptor training, and overseeing/evaluating the clinical education program. The faculty member at the rank of assistant/associate professor will also be involved in teaching, scholarly activities, and service to the College, University, profession, and community.


Position Qualifications:
• Earned doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ScD, DAT) in athletic training or related field (kinesiology, exercise science) from an accredited institution; ABD will be considered.
• Prior experience teaching in higher education and familiarity with CAATE accreditation and standards
• Experience as a coordinator of clinical education and/or preceptor of a CAATE accredited program
• Record of scholarly activity with the ability to conduct and publish original research in areas of athletic training
• Evidence of clinical athletic training experience (minimum of three years of full time clinical athletic training required)
• Record of establishing and enhancing relationships with internal and external constituents
• Certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification
• Eligibility for Georgia License to practice as an athletic trainer
