Mercer University School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant or associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Savannah campus on the site of Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Rank will be determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and credentials.

Successful applicants will participate in MUSM’s interdisciplinary patient-based learning curriculum for medical students. Candidates with research interests in host-pathogen interactions involving bacterial, fungal, or protozoal pathogens are encouraged to apply. Ideal applicants will be collaborative scientists pursuing fundamental or translational aspects of microbial pathogenesis. Resources include facilities for electron and confocal microscopy, FACS and animal facilities. The candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program and to interact collaboratively with basic scientists and clinical faculty located on the Savannah, Macon and Atlanta campuses.


Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD., MD, or equivalent) from an accredited University/College and have at least three years of post-doctoral experience with a record of scholarly activity as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications.
