Responsibilities

The Department of Counseling and Human Sciences Department in Penfield College at Mercer University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling programs. This position requires demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate level as well as knowledge, experience and skills in counseling in education settings.

Qualifications

School Counseling Program Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education or a related degree with a clear school counselor professional identity and Georgia school counselor certification. All degrees must come from regionally accredited institutions. CACREP accredited degree programs are strongly preferred. Applicants must have professional experience on all aspects of school counseling in P-12 school settings, including individual, group, college and career counseling, and classroom guidance procedures. Knowledge of ASCA National Model is required and experienced in supervision of field experience students is preferred.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education or a related degree. All degrees must come from regionally accredited institutions. CACREP accredited degree programs are strongly preferred. Applicants are licensed (or licensed eligible) as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia

Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling and Education or a related degree. All degrees must come from regionally accredited institutions, CACREP/CORE accredited degree programs are strongly preferred. Applicants are certified (or certification eligible) as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).

Required Skills for all programs
• Demonstrated teaching abilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of adult learners
• Demonstrated experience in school, clinical mental health or rehabilitation counseling
• Demonstrated record of commitment in the areas of social justice, diversity and advocacy
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, team building and collaboration skills

Preference will be given to applicants who
• Have experience teaching core courses in the counseling curriculum
• Have experience using online course management platforms (i.e. Blackboard, WebCt)
• Have experience using LiveText or other e-portfolio programs
• Have experience supervising and mentoring graduate-level counseling students
